ROHS test: specific differences between national standard RoHS and EU ROHS 2.0

Date:2022-08-11 18:30:52 Views:1083

RoHS is a mandatory standard formulated by EU regulations, and its full name is the directive on restricting the use of certain hazardous ingredients in electronic and electrical equipment. The revised standard was formally implemented on July 1, 2006. It is mainly used to standardize the material and process standards of electronic and electrical products, so as to make the products more conducive to human health and environmental protection. The purpose of changing the standard is to eliminate six substances in electronic appliances, including lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers, and focus on limiting the content of lead to no more than 0.1%.

ROHS测试:国标RoHS和欧盟RoHS 2.0具体区别

Rohs2.0 is an upgraded version of the old version of RoHS. The European Union took the new directive 2011 / 65 / EU (rohs2.0) as an alternative to the 2002 / 95 / EC Directive and took effect on July 21, 2011. The new directive adds four phthalate substances to the original substance list: diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP), dibutyl phthalate (2-ethylhexyl ester), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and dibutyl phthalate (BBP). Since then, the list of restricted substances in Annex II of the RoHS 2.0 directive has been officially increased to 10. According to the provisions of the new directive, all products under the jurisdiction of CE mark must meet the requirements of low voltage. EMC. Energy related products and RoHS 2.0 directives from the date of repeal of the old directive, so as to enter the EU market.

Differences between RoHS and RoHS 2.0:

1. Different nature

RoHS is a mandatory standard stipulated by EU laws. RoHS 2.0 is an upgraded version of RoHS.

2. The quantity of restricted substances is different

There are 6 substances controlling RoHS, including lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.

There are 10 controlled substances for RoHS 2.0, which are the other 4 kinds of ring benzene controlled by RoHS. The four kinds of ring benzene are di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and diisobutyl phthalate (DiBP).

3. The control range is different

RoHS 2.0 has a big change from the original RoHS Directive 2002 / 95 / EC, that is, it brings all electronic and electrical products, including medical equipment, into the control range.

Industrial monitoring equipment and its parts must comply with ROHS 2.0;

Medical equipment and its parts for in vitro diagnosis shall comply with ROHS 2.0;

Medical devices for category 8 products exempted from 2002 / 95 / EC and monitoring devices for category 9 products;

Medical equipment and monitoring equipment and their parts shall comply with ROHS 2.0;

Other products newly included in RoHS 2.0 control shall comply with ROHS 2.0;

Category 11: all other electronic and electrical equipment, including cables and other components, not covered by level 1-10 products.

4. Different requirements for CE marking

Include RoHS compliance of electronic and electrical equipment in CE marking. When issuing the CE mark, the manufacturer shall ensure that the product complies with the ROHS requirements, and prepare corresponding statements and technical documents.

Manufacturers need to formulate EC compliance statement and affix CE mark before the products are put on the market, and after the electronic and electrical products are put on the market, relevant technical documents and EC compliance statement must be kept for at least 10 years; If the substances listed in Annex III (e.g. hbcdd, DEHP, BBP and DBP, etc.) will cause unacceptable harm to human health or the environment due to use, the assessment results will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of articles 69 to 72 of REACH regulations and listed as restricted substances in Annex IV.

The above is the difference between RoHS 2.0 and ROHS certification compiled by Chuangxin testing. I hope it will help you.
