Product inspection is an indispensable means of quality control in the production of modern electronic enterprises. It mainly plays a role in the process control of product production, quality control, and determination of product eligibility. Next, we will briefly introduce the 13 kinds of testing and certification commonly used by third-party certification agencies. Let's have a look!

电子产品第三方鉴定机构常见的13种检测认证

1. CCC certification - China. Compulsory

China Compulsory Product Certification was implemented on May 1, 2002. The name of the certification mark is "China Compulsory Certification" ("CCC" in English). The products listed in the Catalogue of the First Batch of Products Subject to Compulsory Product Certification issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China and the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China shall be subject to mandatory testing and auditing. All products listed in the catalog that have not been certified by the designated organization and have not been labeled with certification marks as required shall not be allowed to leave the factory, import, sell or use in business and service sites.

2. CQC Certification - China. Voluntary

The name of the CQC organization is China Quality Certification Center, which is now responsible for China Compulsory Certification (CCC). Obtaining the CQC product certification certificate and affixing the CQC product certification mark means that the product is certified by the national certification authority as safe and in line with the national response quality standards.

3. CE certification – Europe. Mandatory

The products with CE mark indicate that they meet the requirements of a series of European directives on safety, health, environmental protection and consumer protection. CE stands for European Unification. CE is only limited to the basic safety requirements of products that do not endanger the safety of human beings, animals and goods, rather than the general quality requirements. The general directive requirements are the standard tasks. If the product meets the main requirements of the relevant directives, it can be attached with the CE mark, instead of deciding whether to use the CE mark according to the provisions of the relevant standards on general quality. Therefore, the exact meaning is that the CE mark is a safety conformity mark rather than a quality conformity mark.

4. FCC Certification – U.S. Compulsory

FCC: The Federal Communications Commission of the United States has formulated a series of product quality and performance standards related to electromagnetic compatibility of electronic equipment and personal safety of operators, and these standards have been widely used and recognized by technical supervision departments or similar institutions in many countries in the world. Therefore, in the technical manuals of electronic products produced by various manufacturers, there is often a certificate of compliance with a certain standard issued by the FCC, or a statement of compliance with a certain standard of the FCC. The FCC certification applied to computer devices is mainly about product electromagnetic compatibility and radiation limitation standards.

5. UL Certification - U.S. Voluntary

UL is the abbreviation of Underwriter Laboratories Inc., UL was founded in 1894. UL Safety Testing Institute is the most authoritative civil organization in the United States, and also the largest civil organization engaged in safety testing and identification in the world. It is an independent, profit-making, professional institution that conducts experiments for public safety. It uses scientific testing methods to study and determine whether various materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings, etc. are harmful to life and property and the degree of harm; Determine, prepare and issue corresponding standards and materials that can help reduce and prevent the loss of life and property, and carry out fact-finding business at the same time.

6. ETL Certification – USA/Canada. Voluntary

ETL certification is the certification required for products exported to the United States/Canada. The ETL mark indicates that the product has passed the approval test of the NRTL of the United States and or the SCC of Canada. ETL SEMKO provides testing and certification of product safety, EMC testing, product performance testing, and any electrical, mechanical or electromechanical product with the ETL inspection mark indicates that it has been tested to meet relevant industry standards. Among them, ETL certification is a product safety certification. The content of certification is basically the same as UL, but the cost is lower and the period is shorter than UL.

7. GS Certification - Europe. Voluntary

GS certification is a voluntary certification based on the German Product Safety Act (SGS) and tested in accordance with the European Union unified standard EN or German industrial standard DIN. It is a recognized German safety certification mark in the European market. The GS mark indicates that the use safety of the product has passed the test of an independent agency with credibility. Unlike CE, the GS logo has no legal mandatory requirements. However, because its safety awareness has penetrated into ordinary consumers, an appliance with GS logo may be more competitive in the market than ordinary products.

8. EMC Certification – Europe. Mandatory

The EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) directive requires that the electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by the basic body of all electrical products sold to Europe should not exceed a certain standard, so as not to affect the normal operation of other products. At the same time, the electrical products themselves also have a certain anti-interference ability (EMS), so that they can be used normally in general electromagnetic environment. The directive was formally enforced on January 1, 1996. It focuses on various electronic products and is the pass for all electrical products sold to the European market. It will also be enforced in China, which is of great significance for products to occupy the international market.

9. CSA Certification - Canada. Mandatory

CSA is the abbreviation of the Canadian Standards Association, which was founded in 1919. The electronic and electrical products sold in the North American market need to obtain safety certification. At present, CSA is the largest safety certification authority in Canada and one of the most famous safety certification authorities in the world.

10. PCT Certification – Russia. Mandatory

According to Russian law, the goods in the "list of goods requiring compulsory certification to enter the customs territory of the Russian Federation" can enter the Russian market only after obtaining the national standard certificate (GOST certificate) issued by the Russian National Standards and Metrology Commission. For the vast majority of Chinese goods, as long as they have obtained the Russian PCT standard certification certificate, they are equal to obtaining the pass to enter Russia.

11. TUV certification – Germany. Mandatory

TUV Rheinland is the largest product safety and quality certification agency in Germany, a recognized inspection agency by the German government, and an authoritative certification agency alongside FCC, CE, CSA and UL. All products sold to Germany must have TUV certification for their safety use standards, so TUV certification marks also appear on various IT products and household appliances with the above five marks.

12. PSE certification - Japan. Mandatory

PSE certification is a mandatory safety certification in Japan, which is used to prove that the electrical and electronic products have passed the safety standard test of the Japanese Electrical and Raw Material Safety Law (DENAN Law) or the international IEC standard. Japan's DENTORL Law (Law on the Control of Electrical Installations and Materials) stipulates that 498 products must pass the safety certification before entering the Japanese market. Among them, 165 Class A products should obtain diamond PSE marks, and 333 Class B products should obtain round PSE marks.

13. EK-MARK - Korea. Compulsory EK-MARK certification is a type approval system supervised by the Korean government, which has been replaced by the new EK-MARK certification system. The newly revised electrical safety regulation ACT 6019 was issued on September 7, 1999 The newly revised electrical safety regulations have made improvements in strengthening the safety control of production and use of electrical appliances, and also made the safety standards more international so that they can be recognized by many countries in the future The new electrical safety regulations were formally implemented on July 1, 2000.
