IGBT module is a commonly used power semiconductor device, widely used in power electronic equipment. To ensure the quality and normal operation of IGBT modules, it is necessary to conduct quality testing. The measurement method of IGBT module will be introduced below for chip detection.
The quality of IGBT modules can be detected through the following methods:
Determine polarity. Measure the three pins of IGBT using a multimeter, first determine which is the gate (G), which is the collector (C), and which is the emitter (E). Set the multimeter to the R × 1K Ω gear. When measuring, if the resistance value between one pole and the other two poles is infinite, and after switching the probes, the resistance value between that pole and the other two poles is still infinite, it is judged that this pole is a gate. Measure the remaining two poles with a multimeter. If the measured resistance value is infinite, replace the probe and measure the resistance value to be smaller. In the measurement of the smaller resistance value, it is judged that the red probe is connected to the collector and the black probe is connected to the emitter.
Trigger conductivity test. Set the multimeter to the R × 10K Ω position, connect the black probe to the collector of the IGBT, and the red probe to the emitter of the IGBT. At this time, the pointer of the multimeter is at zero. By touching both the gate and collector with your fingers at the same time, the IGBT is triggered to conduct, and the pointer of the multimeter swings towards the direction with lower resistance and can stand to indicate a certain position. Then touch both the gate and emitter with your fingers, and the IGBT will be blocked, causing the pointer of the multimeter to return to zero. At this point, it can be determined that IGBT is good.
Diode level test. Use the diode test gear of a multimeter to test the diode characteristics between the IGBT modules c1 e1 and c2 e2, as well as between the gate G and e1 and e2, to determine whether the IGBT module is intact. For a digital multimeter, under normal circumstances, the forward voltage drop between the C and C poles of the IGBT tube is about 0.5V.
In practical operation, it should be ensured to short-circuit and discharge the three pins of the IGBT module before detection to avoid affecting the accuracy of the detection. Meanwhile, during the testing process, do not touch any terminals and always keep the IGBT on the black casing.
In summary, the quality testing of IGBT modules requires comprehensive evaluation from multiple aspects such as appearance inspection, insulation inspection, current measurement, short circuit inspection, and power testing. Through comprehensive and meticulous testing, the quality and reliability of IGBT modules can be accurately judged. If there are any problems or abnormalities, the module should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
