Brief failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)

Date:2022-03-11 16:40:05 Views:2037

Failure mode and effect analysis is "potential failure mode and consequence analysis", or FMEA for short. FMEA is a systematic activity in the product design stage and process design stage to analyze the subsystems and parts constituting the product and each process constituting the process one by one, find out all potential failure modes and analyze their possible consequences, so as to take necessary measures in advance to improve the quality and reliability of products.

简述失效模式与影响分析(FMEA)

FMEA is divided into DFMEA / PFMEA and fmea-msr.

summary

FMEA is the "mode and failure" and the potential failure is recorded.

Key words: potential failure has not occurred yet, it may occur, but not necessarily.

The "core" focuses on: Prevention - dealing with the expected failure, its causes and consequences / effects.

Main work: risk assessment - consequence impact of potential failure mode.

FMEA starts before product design and manufacturing process development activities, and guides the implementation throughout the whole product cycle.

An inductive analysis method that analyzes all possible failure modes of each product in the system and all possible effects on the system, and classifies them according to the severity, detection difficulty and occurrence frequency of each failure mode.

Basic steps of FMEA

List all components.

For each component, list all known failure modes.

For each component / failure mode, list its impact on a higher level.

For each component / failure mode, list the severity of the impact.

Main purpose:

It can modify the product or process easily and at low cost, so as to reduce the modification of post crisis.

·Find measures that can avoid or reduce the occurrence of these potential failures;

Characteristics of FMEA

Advantages:

·The weakness of reliability in design is pointed out, and the countermeasures are put forward

·According to the required specifications and environmental conditions, the inappropriate design can be improved in real time by using experimental design or simulation analysis to save unnecessary losses

·The effective implementation of FMEA can shorten the development time and cost

·At the initial stage of FMEA development, design technology was considered, but later development, in addition to the use of design time, manufacturing engineering and inspection engineering can also be applied

·Improve product quality, reliability and safety

Insufficient:

Since each component is analyzed separately, the composite failure caused by the combination causing serious problems is not identified.

In fault-tolerant systems, CCFs are rarely identified.

During FMEA, operation and maintenance errors are also difficult to analyze (unless the identification personnel are proficient in human reliability analysis and recognize the component failure modes caused by human interaction).

Identifying the skills and attitudes of personnel is very important for the quality of FMEA.

All failure modes of components must be known, otherwise they will be ignored.
